 ----- Poetry Exam Overview ----

Question 1

  • 30 Marks

  • Compare two poems from your anthology. 30 marks. You will be given one poem in the exam but you will need to choose and use evidence from another poem. (The easiest way to do this is by looking at the three clusters of poems here)

Question 2

  • 24 marks

  • Analyse a poem you have never seen before.

Question 3

  • 8 Marks

  • You will be given another poem which you have never seen before. You have to compare this poem, with the one from question 2.

So how do you answer poems you have never seen before?

You may also wish to listen to poetry being read on youtube. Try it!

  2. WRITE-- poetry can be very therapeutic. Start writing poetry about your own feelings-- pride, courage, joy, loneliness, lament.

  3. KNOW the poetic devices and how they are used. Click here for help

                  Set Monday July 14th

Length of study: 4 hours

LO:     To consolidate (join together)  my knowledge about language paper 2

Purpose    To create a revision page for my language paper 2 revision

    Tasks to complete:

  1. Refresh your memory about what is required for language paper 2. If you need help, click here and scroll down to language paper 2.

  2. You should consider:

    1. How many sections are there to the paper?

    2. how many questions are required for each section

    3. How much is each question worth?

  3. Create a mindmap. "Language paper 2" should be in the middle, and coming out from that middle cloud will be each question. Add in how many marks each question is (remember to include both sections), and what the examiner is looking for. This should fit on one side of A4 or A3 paper. Use colour to make this more engaging as you can always print it  and put it on your revision wall! Do not use too many words as this is meant to be a quick overview, something to perhaps look at before you write the exam to remind you of what is expected.
